Cross-Government Inquiry, Webinar with our CEO, and HWWB Day

March 14, 2024 — Today, Moral Injury of Healthcare is pleased to share recent developments and upcoming events.

Share Your Story of Corporate Greed in Healthcare

The Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, and the Department of Health and Human Services have launched a cross-government public inquiry into private equity and other corporations’ increasing control over healthcare. The FTC also just hosted a workshop on this issue. Click below to see our series on X this week highlighting memorable quotes from the workshop.

In response to the government's request for information, this is a momentous opportunity to speak out about the changes you've seen - as a practitioner, an administrator, or as a patient - with healthcare corporatization.

Did your hospital or practice reduce staffing after joining a bigger system? Is it harder to see your doctor after her practice was bought out? Or to get tests done and see physicians who work at systems outside of your doctor's health system? The FTC, DOJ, and HHS want to know how Big Med has made your care riskier, costlier, harder to get, or lower quality.

Schwartz Center Webinar Today

The Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare is hosting a special webinar featuring our CEO and Co-founder Dr. Wendy Dean today at 4:00 p.m. Eastern.

Schwartz Center Chief Medical Officer Dr. Beth Lown will talk with Dr. Dean about the topic of "Reframing Distress: Why Moral Injury Matters."

Health Workforce Well-Being Day of Awareness

This Monday, March 18, has been designated Health Workforce Well-Being Day of Awareness (HWWB Day). We are thankful to Sens. Tim Kaine and Roger Marshall for their efforts to mark this day and raise awareness of moral injury.

This day also coincides with the second anniversary of the signing of the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act. We were honored to join 58 other organizations on a recent letter to the U.S. Senate and House supporting the re- authorization of this Act (H.R. 7153/S. 3679).
